A dear friend as well as others has urged me to take a break from my cold colours and paint a bit in warmer tones. Yesterday since my son lay ill with pneumonia on the coach I used acrylics to avoid any fumes and decided to honor that promise.

I am so sorry. What happened was that as usual I got lost into painting and lost track of time and my plan to take photos step by step to show you. So I am sorry this only ended up being a 2 step demonstration.

I am fairly satisfied with the results because I think I managed my goal of making it calm, quiet and relaxing. The clouds are soft and light and the ocean calm without waves.

The rocky beach is deserted but with more textures so that the painting did not end up totally without any "bite".

I decided on making the sun very distant and small because I did not want this to become a typical sunset painting.

Sorry about some flash refelctions from the camera. Without the flash I get a perfect image but the blue colour is lost - sith the flash some reflections when taking the photo on wet paint ona black background. By the way, what you see as only black is also blue tinted so there is no harsh clean black here.

As I promised yesterday - here is one of the oil paintings I made in warm colours. My daughter came home as well tonight with her boyfriend and I was so happy to see her because she is so busy working and studying that I do not get to see her as much as I'd like. Tonight my house is full. It is near 2. a.m all have gone to sleep and I have just washed the dishes and enjoy a bit of time for myself to finish my day. All of you mums (and a few dads) know what I mean ;-).

This weekend both my Mum and my son came home visiting which is so lovely. You can probably see my tender heart due to the use of warm colours :-). This one was painted in acrylics yesterday. Today I continued with the warm colours but in oils, so keep returning and I'll post them here in a day or two.

yepp, I'm still at it with the warm colours. A friend described this painting today as "brightly subdued" and that really trilled me because when I painted it yesterday I could not decide on whether to make that sky bright or subdued and I think I spent 2 hours just working along that issue on the sky after the sky was basically finished. The end result is therefore "brightly subdued. Shore with Blushing Sky

Today I needed to paint with warm colours and ended up working layer by layer in acrylics to get the warm feeling I craved. The base of my thumb turned quite blue and swollen and earlier today everything was difficult to do but it seemed that it improved as soon as the swelling was done and I managed to paint today which I am very very happy about.

I really hope you will enjoy the warm colours and that seeing the painting will be a comfort for those that do not love winter.

Hi
Today I have been studying geese in flight, take off and landing. Here are my first two geese oil paintings. I'll probably make a few more this weekend. I plan of having a painting weekend this week too since my kids do not plan on coming home. Too busy :-)
