I am still being ill and had to cancel today's scheduled trip. My hiking buddy went however and planned longer trips in that area for when we both are rid of this virus. (She started last week). She also got the paperwork for a so called Top Ten challenge which most places have made these last years. In short that is to hike to 10 different mountain tops and sign a guest book there/mark a paper. Each trip earn you a certain number of points. In September you send in your points and some places you get a diploma or you can buy a mug or get a medal if you have so and so many points or do all 10 tops. Since it has been going on for a couple of years there is also a 5 or 10 year in a row prize some places. My hiking buddy and I plan to do all the orientation posts locally as well as all the Top Tens hehehe. Important to set high expectations and goals for ourselves. LOL. I am pretty sure we wil manage the goals too hehehe.

The virus has made me tired and achy and also brought a bad headache. I have been able to do a bit of hourse chores but the gardening I had planned was too hard.

I have done very very well on water. Have poured down water and tea all day. A special thanks to Kristin who reminded me of the comforts of tea. Yesterday I completely forgot.

Foodwise I have been supergood - only #1 ideal foods today. I made myself a cottage cheese and strawberry/peach fromage which turned out tasting fantastic. I made a 1kg fromage all in all and only about 450kcal in total, which makes each snack portion only 45-100kcal depending on how much I wanted.

1 cup (300g) cottage cheese

frozen strawberries

6 ts of gelantine powder

2 dl of water

1dl of non suger nearly non kcal peach tasting lemonade

2 cans (2.3dl in total) of peach yoplait 0% yoghurt

splenda for sweetness

Today everyone at my job had to travel to a nearby town to attend a seminar, the kind with a lectorer that gives 90 % jokes and 10 % advice in the self help, stay positive, be in charge of your own health motivational style. Even though much of it is obvious truths I must admit I do wish some of them had something new to say or a new twist on it or LOL at least tell some stories, quotes and jokes I have not heard before so that I would go home feeling I had something more with me home than when I arrived.

Yepp, LOL I am a cynic. Also many of us feel that we are always behind on lots of important things at school as well as on budgets that keep getting smaller so sometimes we do wish that we could spend the ton of money seminars like this costs on other things, but that is impossible because that are different posts on the budgets.

Anyway, the place was beautiful being a restored old bathing hotel from the times when the well off went to baths. (photo: View from the Terrase) Also the lunch buffet was very delicious so it was a good thing that I was on my high carb higc kcal day. Except from the dessert all of it was fairly healthy cooking with lots of lean and healthy fish and vegetable dishes and easy options between leaner and more high kcal sauces and sidedishes. The desserts however was of the high kcal delicious kind like chocolate mousse and cheese cake and such. In the end I spent my kcal for meal 2,3 and 4 while there and most of my carbs and kcals on the dessert table and on the warm newly baked bread they had.

It felt like an OK thing to do now that I am only 0.1kg from my first major goal and will very soon start my second 12 week program. I almost never drink wine or beer and never coffee and I stopped smoking some years ago. Enjoying a nice not neccessarily superhealthy meal with friends or family 1-2 times during each 12 week period I think is a wise thing to do if I am going to stay on a fairly strict meal plan for a year or maybe two.

Many programs like Body for Life and such even insists on planned "cheat meals or days" as necessary for a long term success. I agree to a certain extent with them but I do not like the term "cheat" because as a teacher it just makes me thing of dishonesty and people trying to grab advantages without doing the work. We as adults choose what to do and even if a choice might be bad is is not being dishonest. If I had lied and said I only ate whey and brocholi today that would have been dishonest - eating a small square of cheese cake and incorporating it into my food log is just a choice.

Also I think that the feeling of having had a treat or being slightly naughty might be a motivational force for me to be very active this weekend. LOL in the end I might end up burning more kcal than ever because every overweight person ARE taught deep into the bone marrow to feel guilty when eating anything besides superhealthy and low kcal. That unavoiding guilt ;-) can be used to motivate extra good workouts hehehe.

Cold cold cold

Today I was happy to resist temptation at work. Someone brought in a lovely chocolate cake and all sat there eating it in all the breaks. I did not as much as smell it ;.)
I took a pear instead. :-)

Plan for tonight besides trying to keep warm here in cold Norway -29C/-20F here this morning is to get some ab work done. The mat is ready along the sofa winking at me.

LOL all people are talking about and most of the news are about this cold spell because it keeps going on and on. It is annoying though. Watertap in bathroom froze again while I was away at work today and the car just said "No way" this morning. nodp

At the moment I am trying to get my body out of hibernating mode. The cold weather seems to increase my urge to hibernate - a wish to curl up within a blanket taking it easy, just resting and keeping warm. Only problem is that humans unlike bears tend to eat more insted of not during hibernating so it is not a good option for us. Historically our bodies are used to taking it easy during the darker and colder months after hectiv hunting and gathering during autumn. At least I think my body has a genetic memory of winter being the time to gather around a fireplace and tell stories and do handicrafts. LOL.

I have now just returned after having filled up my fridge and cupboards with vegetables in all kinds of versions in addition to some fish and seafood. I need to get those first kilos off fairly quickly so that I get a motivation boost. That means being very good with my food because the season now is not one where physical activity is something I yearn for.

As for today and painting, I hope to post something later tonight.
