Yesterday after looking at some photos from my journey up North last year I simply had to do a landscape. 

Everybody have heard about and knows that in schools we struggle with some students' behaviours, especially antisocial, disruptive or aggressive behaviour. This has got a lot of attention and numerous programs all over the world have been started which is a very good thing because usually these behaviours are ways of externalizing pain or screams for help.

In today's painting I wanted to focus on the totally opposite group - those that internalize their pain but who do not get as much help simply because they are not a big daily problem for the teachers, their costudents or the system. They just fade into the walls and become nearly invisible. These often becomes the forgotten sufferers - their abuse stories never discovered, their mental health too often deterioring way too much before anyone sees them. Or if we notice something being off, we have a tendency to postpone doing something simply because in today's overcrowded classrooms the acute and loud demands occupy us and we find ourselves having spent yet another day postponing finding time for these students. I am so happy for all social teachers and school nurses that help us also take care of these students.

Most of us know and use the expression "to see someone" in the meaning of seeing who we are, see how we feel and accept who we are and how we feel. In today's painting I focus on listening in a similar sense, more meaning listen to who I am, listen and understand how I feel - connect, not just hear what I say - the words and the open content also meet me as an individual. Few things are as difficult as opening up - few things as scary and few this as devastating as being met with a closed heart or harsh criticism. Today we had a lovely sky as I drove home from work

Brushing and scraping snow off my car this morning crossing my fingers that I would be able to drive it out of the driveway, I really started to long for spring.

These days my goal is to break free of some boundries that hinders my artistic developement.

Very very cold here today, below -15 C so school children were allowed to say indoors during breaks. Arriving homw today the temperature in my kitchen was only 13C so it took me some time to get it to a comfertable level.

It is lovely both to meet my own class and the new students. This first week is hectic but also it is very nice to be back because I love my work as a teacher and my students. At the same time I have began watching some of the photos I took during my holidays. Today's painting is inspired by a reference photo taken at Arran Island, Scotland one evening.

I have had a lovely day, first doing my monthly column and later painting, reading and watching TV. Very nice day hehehehe
