One of the best things about painting in oriental style is that it is kind of like meditation. You get lost totally in consentration and time just melts away. You are so focused on the single lines and the brush that you wtop thinking about other things. Great stres reliever LOL. Of course those that have been doing this for years bot see and are able to display much more wonderful brush strokes, but Even as a beginner in his technique I find myself improving bit by bit.

Ink Bird ACEOs; Herons, parrot and flamingo

Hi, today I brought lots of the learn japanese kanji signs to work as well as materials. My students really enjoyed having a go at calligraphy.

My daughter came home for a quick visit today too and the sun was shining all day. In other words life has been very good to me today. Here are a few birds on artist trading cards made by using 240g watercolour paper.

From the top there is Flamingo, Parrot and Heron1 and Heron 2,



















I also worked on the 5 elements and hope to show you those tomorrow

Learning Japanese - ACEOs in ink; horse, bird, Love

Hi
Today I have had a wonderful day! The sun has been shining all day and I was able to work on both my painting skills and my tan at the same time. No demonstrations for me on this International day for Workers. As I continued to study Japanese/Chinese signs I came to think about a time in my youth which I uaually don't think much about. At some time in my very young age, before my kids and when I still wanted and believed I could save the world. And LOL before my joints and back went crazy on me. - Then I studied homeopathy adn acupuncture. I had totally forgot how much of the Oriental philosophy I read that period. Working on calligraphy today brought it back and I wish I could have spent the next days just continuing. Well, we'll all have to make a living, don't we. Anyway, I enjoyed my life tremendously today living in the present letting the sun warm me up and I had happy memories of the past and lots of exiting plans and dreams about the future. In other words, a perfect day.

Playing with Brush Strokes - 12 Chinese Zodiac Symbols

Today I have been practicing brush strokes and what is better than working on calligraphy for that - Me, a bar of ink and a big brush and some watercolours aceo-sized pieces of paper.

Here are the results. Among the 4 most used stles I chose to work on the more cursive, artistic style than the more square, printed version of the symbols.
During the last months I have experimented with changing colours or opaquiety/transparancy of different mediums, looked at values and tones by working in monochrome etc etc. All in all I have found that every style, topic or medium has something to teach me and thus I can safely just follow wherever my muse is taking me. At present it is obvious that it is taking me practicing lines and movements.
All I need to do is follow along. Thank you muse
