I had never heard of encaustic art before, but I finally got around to researching this technique, including seeing a slide show that showed an artist painting an encaustic work. It seems to me to be an extremely difficult medium to work with and I am planning on buying an encaustic painting from this artist not only because of its beauty, but also because I want to see what encaustic art looks like in real life. It also will be fun to have a type of art that no one else whom I know has or even has heard of before. I think that having an encaustic painting will lead to some interesting conversations.
