Quite fun that the underdog won the Super Bowl but as a Norwegian I really do not care that much about who won, I just found the whole thing entertaining.

Today I started the twice weekly Back and Neck Training that is lead by a Physiotherapist. It was very good because it was kind of low intensity but still felt very intense because she made us do exercises that challenged our bodies with movements that we either normally don't do or have taught ourselves not to do to avoid pain. Several very simple exercises were quite difficult just for that reason. That made me very satisfied and determined to continue with it even though it is a bit challenging because it lasts a bit after my work starts. An understanding inspector and principal at my work makes it possible, at least for a time.

Well, I skipped the last part which was relaxation (somewhat similar to autogen training I think) and run from the gym hall to the classroom. In short it is hectic to make it possible, but I think it will be worth that and the costs.

After work and the after work meeting I went home but was not satisfied so in the end I drove down to the Gym tonight and spent 66 minutes on the treadmill hehe. For some strange reason I ended up with blisters UNDER my foot today. Very strange.

Then it's time for the Super Bowl. American football is a fairly unknown sport here in Norway so this year as they did last year they will start the tv program by explaining the rules and the system of it all. It lal starts at 23.45 (11.45 p.m) here so I will probably not watch much of it since I am to join a back and neck training group before work tomorrow lead by my physiotherapist. Nevertheless I let myself be inspired by this fact and painted a couple of Pink and Blue Bird ACEOs

As for me doing anything physical today, I went for a walk, 47 minutes. Beautiful and Sunny but cold.

Today I really was not very motivated for any workouts but I packed my gymbag and got moving.

* 40 min treadmill (5.6km/h, incline 2.5 With a couple of 30 sec running at 7.5 thrown in)
* 22 min of Strength (Leg press 12x165/175/185/185kg) and Toe raises on Leg press machine on 105kg: 2 sets of 12) + Stretches
* 10 min Row Machine (level 10, 1700m)

Then the Gym closed so I found my trusted Snowy Forest Road and followed it far into the woods for 1h 22 min at quite a good speed 2/3 of the way. The last bit was on a lower "gear". Lovely Trip. I only met a tractor and not a single car.

Stiff and Sore? YEPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My online personal coach, Julia, asked me whether I had any results by now so I decided to put that in a blog entry by itself.

Since New Year
* Weight down
* Increased general muscular strength
* Less back pain
* Arm much stronger
* Able to do more cardio and at higher intensity
* Able to do more kinds of exercises, more sets and more weight each set
* Increased flexibility
* Into a habit of going straight from work to the gym or out walking.
* Into a habit of eating very healthy, lean, non processed food, lots of vegs and fish, whole grain carbs,
* very little salt
* very little artificial drinks mostly water with only a touch of nearly non kcal lemonade to camuflage the tiny clorine taste of all tap water. Also fruity teas. NO coffee. Always a literbottle close at hand.

Another cold and windy day. Very beautiful but that cold wind ruined some of the enjoyment of being outdoors during breaks today.

I very much wanted today to be a day of walking outdoors but had nearly decided that it really would be too uncomfortable, also because I was a bit stiff as well with aching knees.

BUT then I decided that my mantra for February should be "When in doubt, do it!" so I drove home and with double layers and a scarf three times around my neck and lower face I started walking. I told myself that I would at least endure 15 minutes. I ended up doing 45. The first 30 my right knee kept complaining (not in a dangerous way), then after 30 minutes I think it gave up and I felt nothing more LOL. Then as usual my right foot' toes cramped up as they always do for a strange reason. They do that when I walk on different surfaces and in different shoes. BUT I COMPLETED THE WALK :-) and was very happy about that.

Being close to the Gym I now decided to drop in and do some stretches there and maybe, just maybe some upper body workout. Decided that it probably would be wise to warm up my upper body a bit more so I hit the rowing machine. It has been a long time since I have used it so I had no expectations at all or rather negative ones due to knee being a bit uncooperative. So I told myself I would at least try to do 5 minutes, then at least 50 kcal, then 10 min, 100 kcal etc etc. Did 15 minutes - 122 kcal on level 10 of 10 possible levels :-) Was very proud of myself but probably looked like a wreck stumbling out of the contraption :-)

Did about 30 min on upper body work, lots of stretches, some abs and then cooled down by 5 min slowly walking on the treadmill.

Only one thing left to do - send a bragging sms to daughter LOL.

Now I will enjoy well deserved filled plaice with vegs and natural rice.

My Body Told Me

My body told me today at work that I did a marvellous job yesterday in the gym, especially every time when I got up after having sat for a while. ;-)

Went to the gym after work but did only stretches and 40 min on the treadmill Fat Bruning HR at 120+ with medium intensity (incline 2.5, speed 4.7-5.2). My goal besides burning those kcal was mainly to loosen up those muscles that worked really hard yesterday. I also did a set of calf raises without any DBs - hard enough without today.

Off for wok and chicken now. later I will have shrimps. I do wonder why those laying in salty water has a much highter kcal content in all lists?

Fantastic Day

I've had a fantastic day today. Car started this morning which made my life so much easier. Then I was allowed by the inspector at work to leave an hour early so I hit the gym very early and could spend much time there without it becoming very late.

At the gym I was able to do not one but two cardio sessions. One before Strength and one after. Both more than 30 minutes with increased speed and and incline of 2 or 2.5. On the first one I even managed to do 3 intervals of kind of running for 30 seconds while holding the bars. That is major for me because I usually do not run and mastering running on the treadmill is one of my goals.

Cardio was good, I built up a good sweat and HR was 140-147 most of the time which is exactly where I wanted it to be.

In between the cardio sets I did 1h10min of very effective strenght training where I increased weight as well as did new exercises. Very happy about today's workout.

Foodwise, my cravings has left me again and I was able to really enjoy my evening meal of wok vegs and chicken.

To sum up: I have had agreat day and feel ready to do well for another month.
