This weekend has been dedicated to pastels - both soft and hard ones which is quite new mediums for me. That is why I am very happy here I sit and look at my drawing of the Red paprika (as we call them here in Norway). Yesterday I also drew birds in soft pastels so be sure to check back in to see them when I get good photos of them taken.

I tried using oil pastels to draw an apple & pepper on small 6 x 4.5 size paper. I really like drawing & blending them, but I find the small size is too difficult to capture detail. I even tried a blending stick. Do you have a preference between the dry or oil pastels?

I like the soft more chalky ones for drawing on black or dark backgrounds, but for still life food I found the blending properties of the oil pastels best. I too found it hard to make small details on small papers with these big chuncky pastel sticks. Probablys hould buy them in more pencil shape. All in all I like the challenge. Thanks for your comment.
