When I was in London recently I bought a bar of chinese ink and a winsor & Newton 8 colours set of inks. All of this weekend has been spent playing with these my new toys. Here are the first 3 one I made. All are 2.5"x3.5" ACEOs or ATC (artist trading cards). media is as I said ink only on quality watercolour paper. Price is usually $10 for my aceos. They are not totally original since I used instructional books when painting them. Practicing in this manner is by the way an honored tradition within chinese brush painting.

Painting outside today - aquarelles=watercolours SOLD (YBOBB)
0 comments Posted by Trine at 11:17 pmToday the sun was shining and life was good so I grabbed some watercolour paper and a box of watercolours, a tin of water and a few brushes and brought it all outside. Here are the results:
A Forsythia outside my house. It is kind of incredible how these flowers bloom long before they get any leaves and as a photo earlier this month shows while we still have snow.
Price: $20

Sad to say, still another day has passed without me being back to proper painting again. I really thought this would be the day. I have the plans, I have the ideas, I have the materials and the sketches - I simply am too exhausted because I have been too busy and having had too much on my plate for the last month. Cross fingers with me that tomorrow will be the day. Trine

I am sorry to tell you that getting back to painting is still hard to do. Today was the annual meeting of the local teacher's union and as its accountant I had to present the budgets and the accounts together with the annual report presented by the board. It is strange, no matter how many times we have done this many of us, we still run around like crazy the last two weeks, not to mention the last two days or hours. We've changed to a completely new system so I am still not completely done but I am starting to see the end now. I resisted reelection and only have to complete through to summer now. Jippii. I definately need to get out of as many things as I can to make room for my art work :-).
I beg your patience and hope to be showing you many new works soon.

Hi all. No paintings today either, so sorry. Life simply is so hectic these days that I barely hang on. Today is my mum's Birthday and that is an occation I simply have to do something about :-)
on top of that is the extra work to be ready for the yearly members meeting in the local teachers union where I as an accountant must present flawless accounts for 2006 and that in a completely new online system. This is on Thursday so we are all running around like headless chickens getting everything checked and double checked in the last minute. And of course preparing for classes and grading of papers and exercises has to be done as usual also. I can't wait to be over this hill.
This is just to let you all know that I am no less dedicated than before only too busy. After all I had tons of great new art materials with me home from London HEhehehe which I have to try out.

Here is a small teaser. The half price booth on Leicester square in London. This is one of the places where you can get that nights theater and show tickets at budget prices. Unfortunately my mum turned ill on our holiday so we did not do much of such things.
Tomorrow, I'll tell you more. Tonight I just have to catch up on a few chores and then head straight to bed to be able to manage tomorrow which will be above normal hectic. I hope to post more often soon. Sorry .

Easter is a time for reflections and deep ones too. I must admit that my thoughts and emotions have been very confusing and caotic this Easter.
"Confusing Thoughts"
oil on artist canvas panel 18x24cm
price: $100 p&p worldwide included
Today winter returned and I must admit I was not too happy about that. As you can see in the photo, finally one bush started to show signs of spring and then it all became white again. No wonder I had to use warmer colours when painting today.

Finally my arm is good enough for me to feel comfortable painting again. Getting started again is somewhat hard so I'll probably not challenge myself very much with new subjects that much. Well, anyway, that is what I think will happen but LOL my experience on this roller coaster journey of mine into art is that nothing is for sure. Usually I end up doing something else than what I planned. So I have decided to just hang on and enjoy the ride.
Waiting for Spring to Colour the Land
Oil on preprimed artist canvas panel 24x30cm
$100 p&p worldwide
Making this oil painting I wanted most of all to get my hands on brushes and the smell of oil paint and thinner into my nostrils. Both my kinds are away tonight so I won't disturb any of them with the smell. One thing though is very new in this painting. I only very rarely use browns and except for the sky and the water this is all in browns. The reason; here in Norway spring is arriving slowly and the birds are singing and some bushes show sighs of them being ready to burst into green BUT all in all 99 % of the colours are browns and greys on the ground still with a tiny tussilago farfara here and there on the road side. So this is a spring landscape just waiting to burst into greens again. I might go wild on the greens during Easter LOL
