Tribute To a Beautiful Earth

and today I give you an ink painting of a bird mum bringing food for her chicks. If for no other reason, our maternal instincts should lead us into preserving our planet and tidying up after earlier mistakes or abuse of our natural resourses. I chose to have the nest hidden and I really believe that the wise animals keep their offspring away from any human beings - in general we ruin things for them.

Today is the Thirteenth day of the August challenge

Tribute To a Beautiful Earth

Today's painting is inspired by a question which is used by many in many different settings, lots of them philosopical and methaphorical.

The use of ink on rice paper as well as the choice of a philosopical theme is is honor of the Olympics in Beijing.

How Tall Does a Tree Grow?

Question: How tall does a tree grow?

Answer: As tall as it's environment allows

Solution: Save the environment

There are many wise ways to use this image in connection with self-growth: if we don't feel as if we're growing, one way to kick growth is that we can change our environment, get out of our comfort zones and see what will happen.

"How tall does a tree grow?" "As tall as it can, " answers Jim Rohn.

Another interesting thing about threes that all the "you can be a success-guys" seem to forget is that it knows when to stop and maybe even when to shed it leaves and take a winter's break from growing.

I wish you all a life as the best trees you can be. Trine

Yepp, for those of you wondering, I am hooked on insects at the moment.

This one is painted using an amazing photo made by Steen Heilesen as a reference to practice the posture. He was kind enough to allow me the use of his mantis as models untill my own grow up.
Here is the link to the photo. http://www.flickr.com/photos/steenheilesen/193123523/

I had a nice day today getting several gratulations on becoming a columnist. That warmed my heart. My son arrived tonight so now we listen to an old Led Zeppelin concert on tv and install loudspeakers to make the sound experience a nice one later this weekend when my daughter arrives too.

I have also had a lovely time painting a few animal paintings tonight after being inspired by a chinese book that arrived in my mail today.

I går kjøpe jeg meg en meter forsilke. Forhåpentligvis kommer jeg snart i gang med å male på den.

Yesterday I bought a meter of fake silk. Hopefully I will soon be busy painting on it.

Here is a turtle I did during the exhibition in late november 2007. I have checked, it stays the same even after having been in water for a long time or in soapy water. :-) I wonder how it would look used in a pillow or something?

Starting a new year has its great aspects and its scary ones. Starting a new with a whole year in front of you as a huge new canvas where evyerthing can happen is the great part. The sad part when you reach a certain age is that you know that the odds are that things will not change that much - the same battles will have to be fought all over again.

Right now I dread the fact that - yes, you guessed right - the diet and exercise fight with myself starts all over again. "Same procedure as every year, James".

The best part this new year is that my painting has had developed very well in 2007, I have not touched a sigarett all 2007 and there has been less conflicts in people around me that I have been mixed into (one of my resulutions a year ago). Well, Keep visiting my blog and you will get to know how 2008 turns out.

My goals as a painter are many for 2008. No one knows where my artistic journey might take me in the year to come.

I have tried so many times to take photos or make sketches of my cats looking at them but for some reason every time I try to capture them they move. In the end I gave up today after quite a few horrible sketches and did this kitten from a reference.

Below is a photo of two of my three cats sleeping during Christmas.

By the way, there is quite a few of my works on ebay these days.

Happy New Year

I am a bit fascinated by paintings on fabric and look forward to exploring that medium more in this new year. For obvious reasons I do not start working on expensive silks but I do find this imitation silk that is used inside of jackets and coats quite good.

This painting makes me smile every time I see it. Roosters are so meant to be the morning birds waking us all up with its kykelikyyy and this one seems to walk around muttering to itself like a tru B-person early in the morning, eyes semiopened.

Today I finally got my butt out of the coach and working on posting on ebay. I have had such a bad concience about not using ebay for many many months which is very stupid considering that I have paid to have the store there all the time. Hopefully I will get into better habits in 2008. For now I have a major clear out during this new year week and post a lot on ebay. You might find a coup. For this new year period my shipping is also free on ebay.

Today has been a very productive day. We did the ususal end of term things at school and after that I have been starting the Christmas cleaning of the house. I am happy to inform you that I have been good and done a few of the less fun stuff LOL youi know under the bathtub and such . . . . . That feels great when done. This mouse I did a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I am too worn out to be able to create anything new tonight.
