Lots of sleeping today, probably due to the Swineflue vaccine. Hopefully I'll be more awake tomorrow. This calm landscape reminding me of my travelling this summer suits my mood.

Aching all over now as the time is getting closer to midnight.

The halloween party went brilliantly. My car batteri chose to act up when I finally was done doing the last checks and tidy ups but fortunately a friend came and helped with starting cables.
I would not want the car to be left in the schoolyard this night when so many of the young persons are partying all through the night.

Well, anyway, my aches are probably also due to me getting the H1N1 vaccine yesterday.

This painting was mounted and framed November 2010 when it was in an exhibition and as such difficult and expensive to post internationally. Dismantling is an option. Contact me for info.

I am still in a very busy time with my work in teaching with all the student teacher talkings and now the parent teacher conferences., and that means that I get too little time working on my art. Saturday and sunday this weekend I have put aside to be spent almost entirely writing and painting. The coming week that will be on top of my priority list too. I have so many ideas I long to explore that I have had to put temooraily aside.

As a teacher I regularly get to see how hard it is to be a teenager. So much going on inside as well as bodily. I for one would not want to be 14 again.

No less than 7 paintings in the exhibition and 1 through online sales on Dailypainters this weekend in addition to a stack of my books. Wow. Not to mention all the wonderful words people gave me on my paintings and poems and books.

Now I only long for a quiet evening without anywhere to go or anything to do. THAT is not possible for a long time. Lots of things going on at work teh coming weeks which includes parent teacher conferances after work several days as well as me having to help organize the Halloweenparty with the student council this Friday etc etc. Yepp - no lack of duties in the days to come.

SOLD and sent to Baltimore, USA

Nice first day at the exhibition. Still not as many visitors as we'd like but a very good mood among the visitors as well as the participants. People really took their time looking and commenting. I received so many nice words that it really has lifted up my spirit and confidence in continuing to do what I do. That means that some probably will be buyers but maybe at a later time.

I was also interviewed by a journalist who took several photos as well.

Tomorrow I will be working with the local art and crafts union preparing for the Autumn exhibition. Unfortunately, my books will 95 % sure NOT arrive in time so I will have to show and take orders, that is IF anyone at all should decide to buy. I do not believe in any visitors and then in any buyers before I see them because numbers was very low last year. Feeling kind of anxious but do not dare to get my hopes too high up in case we will see low numbers this time too. BUT, of course I dream of it being a success.

We seem to be in a phase of flues and colds here. Now my closest collegue, my daughter and even one of my cats have turned ill. Well, nothing to do about it than wait it out, rest and add plenty of fluids to all infected. Cross your fingers that the two other cats will not catch the cat flu too.

Today's painting is one I made last week when I was in the early grips of my cold. It has some double meaning depending on how these lines shape into meaning for you. I hope you enjoy the duality.

Returned home today from my London trip with my daughter. We had a lovely trip even with me struggling with my cold. Saw lots of interesting stuff on British museum yesterday as well as great art at the National Gallery and The National Portrait gallery where we got a very interesting lecture on

Hester Lynch Thrale (born Hester Lynch Salusbury and after her second marriage, Hester Lynch Piozzi ) (27 January 1741 – 2 May 1821) a very interesing British diarist and author who among other things is known for her friendship on Samuel Johnson and as a source of information on him as well as eighteent century life.
We both agreed that we would have loved to have had more time to hear more talks both on the galleries and on British Museum.
We had a great time but were both pretty worn out and sore footed today, and my cold took a turn for the worse.

Wishful thinking today in my painting since I have spent all of today correcting and grading essays and tests since I am 100% sure that will be among the very first things some of my students will ask tomorrow morning.

Winter has arrived to some parts of Norway so todays owl cartoon celebrates that fact even though I personally hope snow stays away from my part until Christmas. Me I am very happy that today has had a lovely weather.

Today I have looked through much of my work the last 3 years and I have found it interesting how many stories are hidden behind so many of my paintings. Yes, quite a few are not great quality or not painted well, but on the other hand all together my production has something to say - has important expressive communicative qualities. I hope you will continue to drop in once in a while and see the "story" go on.

I have experimented using lines, shapes, layers, colours and not - so many different styles - wherever the muse has taken me day by day. I will continue to do so and therefore even I myself do not know what the future will bring. One thing I do know is that somehow my paintings work very well together with texts or poems.

When working on the Up North book project I have to dig deep into very strong emotions all the way back to my childhood so be prepared for a couple of abstracts that might show some of them in the coming days and weeks. This summer I experienced so much, it was such a rollercoaster from deep sorrow to euphorea. Sorting through those sketches and diaries probably take much of this winter.

First day of autumn holiday. Hurray!!!!!!!!!! I've been very active today, working on the Up North project. Arm much better but I am still very careful with how and how much I use it. Tomorrow I will try to get some more systematic training done.

I've been out waking in the autumn wind and felt weak as a kitten. Strange how I felt that all of my body had been inflammed not only my arm and shoulder. I will have to build up my strength bit by bit it seems by a combination of plenty of rest and frequent but easy activity. Not much fun spending my autumn holiday on this but I guess it could be worse. My arm could have been as G_- awful painful all of these days. I will however try to get more work done on my book project during the coming week. That too must be done carefully and in small amounts of time each time so that I will not awaken the inflammation monster again. This is hard. I so want to do all kind sof things indoors as well as outdoors as soon as my arm function somewhat. But then again if I do a tad too much then hell breaks loose again. Such a balancing act.

Saturday, October 03, 2009

Hurray, Taking it easy, lots of sleep and doing nothing + meds worked. Arm much better today so tomorrow I play to grab my camera and get out in the forest walking. Hurray! Look out for me capturing nature this late spring. Better hurry - some places got snow last night, those places that are above about 4-600m above sea level. I'd better consider getting the winter wheels on my car soon. Today's painting is in honor of my dream of still beeing good enough with my arm and shoulder to spend much of tomorrow outdoors.

After my frozen shoulder like arm loosened up I obviously used it too much because today the pain is quite horrible again. Right now I am dizzy with a mixture of pain and pain relief. I am getting so annoyed by the fact that I get punished with pain and getting worse again, every time I start using that arm.
