I am a teacher and these days we do the litterary period Realism and the play wright Henrik Ibsen and his play "A Doll's House" which is about the situation for women. In this story the main charachter Nora leaves her husband in the end. The coming days I will be posting various abstract paintings under the theme: "Struggling women through the times". The difficult task at hand is to express something through only hints because I do not want to tell the whole story - I want the viewers to do that.

To express complex life situations and emotions is difficult but something I keep trying to do. Sometimes life makes us afraid or anxious and we want to curl inside ourselves and hide from it all, maybe most of all from what we feel. At that same time we want to be left alone and yet at the same time desperately want to be seen and NOT left alone. How to visualize that knotty feeling?

I love it when I manage to create a painting that is expressionistic, as simplefied as possible, abstract, roughly painted which at the same time captures strong emotions. Lately I have been experimenting using only thin layers of oil paint instead of layers totally covering the canvas. I kind of like the different effect. Some other day I might shovel the paint on using painting knives. I go where my muse takes me.

I have been organizing better som of my older paintings and I realize that I maybe like the most the very abstract ones - the ones that express emotions. As for style, I love rough shapes where there is no painting within the lines. Just a couple of weeks ago a lady contacted me wanting to use one of my very simplefied paintings for a conference. That gave me new confidence to believe my very naivistic paintings also have a purpose even though they might look very badly painted along the more realistic paintings on my online gallery.

Today's painting is one where a figure is walking so deep in thought that the landscape is totally dimmed. He is obviously kind of lost not only in thought but maybe a bit in life at this captured moment. By making this painting with so little detail, kind of empty, I hope to capture this lost feeling. I hope you like it.

I have had a good start healthwise in 2016 with today being my fourth day in a row with organized exercise - 2 x strength in the gym and 2 x aerobic. Tomorrow will be restitution day.

This week it is sooo cold here, and I struggle to get my house from 1950s which is basically uninsulated warm. Playing with warm colours do help a bit :-).

Finally I am painting again and in oils. LOL I had forgot how messy it is and how difficult it is to photograph a wet painting and get the colors right. I will try again tomorrow in natural light because this version is too dim.
