Started my day with a walk with my daughter. 1h10min where I also got her to time me running. Her feedback was that I run quite swiftly and with an OK form. 40 seconds at a time for now. One small step forward towards my goal of a body that will allow me to run for 2 minutes. It is not my endurance or breathing that stops me, but my hip joints and muscles stopping to obey my orders after about 30 seconds.

Then I ate a good meal and packed my backpack and my friend and I went for our planned hillwalk. about 7 km walking only upwards, the first 40 minutes fairly steep uphill walking at good brisk speed too, then walking the same way down again. The last half hour was slower as our muscles did not cooperate that willingly anymore. Also my feet was quite sore by now. We did not dare sit down as we had planned for fear of stiffening totally so only very short drinking breaks and we ate our mealbars and fruit while walking. Total of 3h20min effective walking.

Daily total is 4h30min which is much more than my goal of 2h+. Most of it was also challenging. WELL DONE ME!!!!! :-)

Started my day with a 1 hour walk by myself.

As I came home I got a sms from a friend who wanted to walk in the ski trail part that is quite a bit steep uphill and downhill in the rotten leftovers of snow we have now. I asked her if she wanted company and she was, so I changed into my BRAND NEW Ecco mountian hiking boots and off I went. Walking in that partly deep snow really made our calfs and thighs do a bit of extra work. Got a few blisters too since this were NEW hiking boots. Total time ended up being more than 2 hours. We had a lovely time and chatting we encouraged each other into doing every leg the way first and then the whole part again the other way hehehe.

Came home to find my daughter had arrived. Feet in water for a tad of care taking and then blister band aid on and running shoes on. Off we went for a walk that lasted more than 1 hour. Her having her youth and her long legs did of course not get as much of an workout out of it as I did trying to give it my best so that she would not think it WAY too slowly heheheh.

My body and especially my feet are complaining quite a bit now afterwards but I am happy that I did it because that makes this the third weekend in a row where I have pushed myself as far as feet and body have allowed me.

My daughter and I then had a very healthy meal together. All ideal foods. :-)

I had planned to do a couple of miniature runs (maybe 30 seconds) with my daughter timing me today but my feet and body were too sore by then. Maybe tomorrow?

What was great today is having someone to do the workout/walking together with. That makes a huge difference.

I am planning on having a great day tomorrow too. My daughter wants to drag me out and that other lady wants the two of us to do a longer trip walking up in the hills if possible. A long enough trip to plan for a small backpack with coffee and such. :-)

Went out walking this morning to be able to do it before a threatening rain. Had to stop and return home after 25 minutes due to my no 4 toe complaining loudly. Remember I told you about that 4/5 of a nail hanging by a tread? I had put that nail back on top of the toes for protection untill my toe has had some more time making protective skin underneath it and it had kind of glued itself on top due to some blood underneath. I just left it like that and have not cut the tiny tread on one side that it hangs on with. This nail had got loose while I walked and kept digging a sharp corner into the next toe today. PEBBLES lol. Well, I have moved it back where it belonged and hope for another walk later today.

I am booked for a 1.5 h back/core workout tomorrow morning and an aerobics class at 6 p.m tomorrow night so I will only do walking today. I very much look forward to the last one because we will heat up the sauna and that heat will be lovely.

Today will be a day of sitting too much - tons of grading and preparing for parent teacher conferences to do so walking will be for limiting damages of sitting too much.

Posting yesterday I posted only the bare numbers. The longer story is more about the pebbles in my way. There is a famours quote about it being the pebbles and not the mountains that makes us stumble and fall.

I had several of them yesterday so the victory was not that much the minutes but that I got them done.

LOL it started with me putting skies and poles into the car to drive to work for the ski shoes that I was to borrow. I could not find the ski poles which is either at my friends house 40 minutes drive away or at the Alpine center the school visited last Tuesday. Not giving in a packed one pair too small and one too long. After fetching the modern two layer shoes I drove to the ski tracks. I put on shoes and was ready to put on the skies. Then I realized that I had managed to bring with me and old pair with totally different bindings. Back home for the right skies. Coming back again I got the shoes into the bindings but they kept dropping off as soon as I kicked back. Fortunately my collegue had also given me the option of an old pair of shoes and they fit the bindings. The snow was so not the perfect kind or rather my skies did not have the perfect coating/lubrication underneath so I got kind of more than a workout than I had planned. The story did not end there. The inside sole of one of these old shoes had a standing up ridge in the middle. In the beginning I kept trying to straighten out my socks but it kept feeling wrong under my foot, then I found out what the problem was on my last 25 minutes skiing. I tried to straighten it out but the only thing to do is to put new soles into them.

When I finished my first skiing 30 minutes I ended up being caught up in a conversation by the car that I could not get out of politely so I had to stand there watching more and more of the few minutes left of the gym opening hours dwindling away. Stressed by this I hurried to get out of my skies and used my left foot to loosen up the bindings of my right foot. Wooops the ski took off, my feet went high up in the air and so did I before I landed on my back with a thud. Forunately there was some snow there to break my fall so all I got was a couple of minor bruises.

When I changed from my gym shoes back to the wollen socks and ski shoes after the rowing I realized why my little toe had been complaining lately. 4/5 of the nail hang in a bloody tread. I got some band aid and kept doing what I had planned. Now I was extra happy that the borrowed ski shoes were one size too big. ;-)

The point of telling all this is not to moan or to say poor me because I never felt that yesterday, just to say that I am proud that I did not quit, even though there were quite a few pebbles on my road towards fulfilling my plan of Trine's Triathlon yesterday. Conquering those pebbles which each could have tempted me to go home was the true victory yesterday.

Had the choice of 3 different workouts today. at least. Cross country skiing, going to the gym and walking. Like Winnie the Pooh I do not like having to choose hehehe so I decided to do a Trine Special Winter Triathlon and I did.
*30 min cross country skiing (change into indoor shoes and a quick drive down to the gym)
* 20 min of rowing, 3500m (change back into wollen socks and back to the ski tracks) (gym closed early so no time for more)
* stretching
* 30 min of cross country skiing
* Stretching
* 30 min of walking
*25 min of cross country skiing
*Stretching
* 30 min walking (met a friend just starting her exercise so joined her)
* 30 min of walking

Total: 1h25min cross country skiing, 20 min rowing, 1h30min of walking.

I am so happy tonight because I was so not sure I would be able to do anything active today at all but I put on some trainers and went out. First 5 minutes I was still unsure about the whole thing but then I found a stretch of medium soft dirt road. It was dry enough to walk there with trainers but still wet and soft enough for my joints to sigh happily.. I started walking and went back and forth and back and forths and so on and son on . . . . after one hour I was able to borrow a big dog from one of the dog training people also on that stretch of road and even RUN for a couple of seconds at the time with it continuing to walk back and forth. LOL In the end I had been walking for 1 h 38 minutes. When I started I thought I might only end up being able to do 10-15 so you can imagine how happy I am with myself.

Tomorrow I will try to put on some borrowed skishoes and go cross country skiing. If that is not possible, I might do some rowing at the gym. It that too is impossible I will again walk back and forth on that piece of dirt road.

Bad day healthwise. The weather has turned and almost every joint in my body went on strike. I had planned for a trip to the gym but had of course to give that up. Today's Pink Bird is inspired by a friend of mine who challenged herself to be able to do pull ups.

Went for an hours walk today. Ancle behaved well enough for me to handle it. The weather however is changing I am sure because all the small joints in my hands and feet say so. I very much hope that I will be able to do my planned workout tomorrow.

tri-mv@online.no's pictureChecking out the workout section on FT, a fitness place online I have joined, I could not stick to my plan of having a rest day so I jumped into the car and drove to the Gym. Went crazy according to my pelvisregion and spent 60 minutes on the rowing machine (last personal best was 25 minutes. Had to do about 15 minutes of flexibility after that to release the muscles who shook quite much when I dragged myself off the machine. I knew however that I pushed myself a millimeter to the right side of the thin balance of the pain being a bad pain and a undangerous one.

From last week on my mental state has been one of wanting to break boundries and a willingness to take the pain that has and will follow. It is kind of overworking on purpose. I am not always in a phase where that is possible so LOL I do it when it is and while it lasts. Next week can be filled with weather triggering my joints not being willing so I just grab every day now when the risk of injury is low.

After the flexibility training I did 35 minutes of Strength training. I was a bit annoyed that my cold + holiday meant that I had to lower the weight on some and that some felt harder. Fortunately it usually only takes a couple of times for that to be back :-). I do want those numbers to get higher too soon.

BUT, running of to the gym on a seconds whim, I dropped half of meal 3 because I naturally did not want to be filled up right before exercising. I do not regret it because I feel very proud of myself at the moment and so does my grown daughter too and that too is an added bonus.

Looking forward to hopefully telling you all of more victories in the future even though I think it will take some time before I break that personal best in rowing. hehehe

tri-mv@online.no's pictureStarted my day with the Back and Neck Training. And at 6p.m. I joined an aerobic group. That means I got two fairly similar sessions so I'll probably skip the first one at least on Mondays because the last one is more of a challenge. Also running to work on overtime in the morning is not a good option.

Anyway, I am fairly proud of my accomplisments today because my ancle was far from happy after the weekend's excesses. I felt really discouraged last night and this morning because I really really wanted to start on the aerobics today. In the end it worked. I put on tight support bandages and chose the pair of shoes that had the best ancle support and with a few adjustments it worked OK.

Ealrier today I also go an invitation to join another woman's walking trip so spring is fantastic in it that day by day more possibilities appear.

When leaving the Sports Hall, a woman approaced me asking me whether I would consider becoming the local Sports Union's Board as a secretary. I have nearly said yes. It is not much of an honor LOL because secretary and cashier are things that many are scared to say yes to.

My wish for tomorrow is for my ancle to be good again and making be able to go for a walk of at least an hour. Maybe a trip to the Gym for some strength training. Time will tell.

Also posted are a couple of photos from my walks this weekend as well as the roedeer that visited my garden at midnight. As you can see we have both winter and signs of spring approaching.

One of my long term goals or rather visions because that is very far ahead, is to pack a backpack and disappear into some mountain area for a week.

LOL getting there means that occationally I do have to stretch myself a bit which I have done this weekend. 3 h 38 minutes walking in the forest and up a couple of hills today. Fairly good speed and quite a bit of incline.

LOL not much below the waist are on speaking terms with me at the moment I must admit, but borders can not be moved unless crossed first.

After reaching my first major goal I am in a process of speeding things up a bit. Me increasing the amount of time spent each time as well as the speed when I do outdoor activities is one way of doing it. Another is me joining a trial session of aerobics tomorrow at 6. I really do not know whether my body will take it now. For one thing my balance is much worse now than the last time I did organized aerobics. I am hoping though. Variation is what will bring me to my next finish line.

At the moment I am in the process of changing to another online support system and can't wait to see all the helpful parts of it and get the support of my own personal online trainer.

Below and above are some of the photos I took. My focus today has been the small beautiful things on my way.

Prague had a big gallery with Czech artist Alphonse Mucha's paintings. One of them inspired this Pink Bird ACEO.

Fantastic weather outdoors so I spent the day outdoors walking briskly. Returning home after 2 hours I met two friends who had just started their exercises so after 2 minutes changing into dry shoes I was off again. After 3 hours we had a 5 minute break and then we returned. Total time 4h 15 min including those 5 min break. Good speed and quite a a bit of incline and decline as well as a part through the woods in snowy incline. Great workout.

Can I feel it? Yepp!!!!!!!!!!! But happy :-).

Also today my first goal was reached. 15 kg down (33 pounds). This means that my 12 week result probably will be in the 35-40 pounds which I think is a very good result considering the obstacles along the way.

One of the things I love the most about Eastern Europe is that the hairdressers obviously belong to a different school when it comes to how they wash the customers' hair including scalp massages. I always save up my hair before travelling so that I have an excuse to go to the hair dresser when going to eastern Europe. I just melt sitting in the chair. In Prague I got a wonderful treatment - tipped the washer generously too LOL so he was happy too.

Today everyone at my job had to travel to a nearby town to attend a seminar, the kind with a lectorer that gives 90 % jokes and 10 % advice in the self help, stay positive, be in charge of your own health motivational style. Even though much of it is obvious truths I must admit I do wish some of them had something new to say or a new twist on it or LOL at least tell some stories, quotes and jokes I have not heard before so that I would go home feeling I had something more with me home than when I arrived.

Yepp, LOL I am a cynic. Also many of us feel that we are always behind on lots of important things at school as well as on budgets that keep getting smaller so sometimes we do wish that we could spend the ton of money seminars like this costs on other things, but that is impossible because that are different posts on the budgets.

Anyway, the place was beautiful being a restored old bathing hotel from the times when the well off went to baths. (photo: View from the Terrase) Also the lunch buffet was very delicious so it was a good thing that I was on my high carb higc kcal day. Except from the dessert all of it was fairly healthy cooking with lots of lean and healthy fish and vegetable dishes and easy options between leaner and more high kcal sauces and sidedishes. The desserts however was of the high kcal delicious kind like chocolate mousse and cheese cake and such. In the end I spent my kcal for meal 2,3 and 4 while there and most of my carbs and kcals on the dessert table and on the warm newly baked bread they had.

It felt like an OK thing to do now that I am only 0.1kg from my first major goal and will very soon start my second 12 week program. I almost never drink wine or beer and never coffee and I stopped smoking some years ago. Enjoying a nice not neccessarily superhealthy meal with friends or family 1-2 times during each 12 week period I think is a wise thing to do if I am going to stay on a fairly strict meal plan for a year or maybe two.

Many programs like Body for Life and such even insists on planned "cheat meals or days" as necessary for a long term success. I agree to a certain extent with them but I do not like the term "cheat" because as a teacher it just makes me thing of dishonesty and people trying to grab advantages without doing the work. We as adults choose what to do and even if a choice might be bad is is not being dishonest. If I had lied and said I only ate whey and brocholi today that would have been dishonest - eating a small square of cheese cake and incorporating it into my food log is just a choice.

Also I think that the feeling of having had a treat or being slightly naughty might be a motivational force for me to be very active this weekend. LOL in the end I might end up burning more kcal than ever because every overweight person ARE taught deep into the bone marrow to feel guilty when eating anything besides superhealthy and low kcal. That unavoiding guilt ;-) can be used to motivate extra good workouts hehehe.

As planned the whole school moved up to the near Alpine center today at Gautefall. I went cross country skiing myself all day, The first time in many years that I have done that for any length. Very sore now naturally.
In between skiing and sloloming the students enjoyed the wonderful weather, built a fire and grilled sausages.

Me, I kept to the flat tracks today. More challenging uphill and downhill slopes will have to wait for another time.

Also went for an hour's walking when I came home to try to avoid some of that stiffness.

Very happy about myself. The prepaid meal for us teachers went well too. A former student manned the kitchen and skipped the frites and made me a full plate of salat to go with the Leafsteak (kind of like a flat hamburger)instead. When home I have had boiled fish and shredded carrot. I have saved my carbs and might (not decided yet) spend them on a couple of small chocolate pieces to celebrate my skiing LOL.

The camera for some reason picks up any differences in colour and enhances it. The live aceo has colours that look more even.

We had a fantastic weather today and many were out cross country skiing. Even me, even though I had to stop after 30 minutes due to each step being painful on my toes. As I said I could not get any new style skiing shoes so I used a loaned pair of old fashioned ones and that did not work well. I did however really enjoy my time outdoors.

I did however stay outdoors and walked for another hour and half in the snow on foot making sure I kept my arms moving too. My lower body told me when I was done that it had gotten a good workout so I am satisfied.
