Today has been a day of pouring rain outside and taking the day off and read indoors. This lady could represent the dreams of many a young girl (as well as many a grown one hehehe) . The prinsess or mermaid dream. Or it could be a commentary - what do you think?

This whole week I have tidied up and sorted through stuff that has been just stacked during the last busy months. LOL Today I sorted through a drawer with cards and telephonnumbers and papers gathered over the last 10 years. Long overdue. Hehe lovely when it is done.

I always end up doing this the first week of the holidays. I seem to be too wired up right after a work year and it takes time before I "land".

Today I have landed a bit. I have had one full night's sleep for the first time in a long time and that was lovely. Today I also rested out in the sun on a lounger with a book :-))) of course in between mowing a part of the lawn and such hehehe.

I hope you like today's painting. Feel free to interprete it however you please. At the moment it is a man's inner life - his thoughs or dreams - whether he looks to the future or to the past I do not know. The part I enjoyed doing the most was the superhero-kind of role.

My family and I have an old house which we use kind of like a cabin. Unfortunately something has gnaved on wood under the panelling and I do not know what it is. My fingers are crossed that it is only mice and not any of the bad wood eating insects.

A friend commented on yesterday's painting and said she saw something quite different than what I saw. After that I too see it with new eyes and considered changing the name of it to the more neutral "sitting" which will also give the viewer more freedom to interpret it themselves.

One of the slightly annoying things about the first days of every holiday is that I keep switching between still being on hyperactive mood and being fairly drained after the spring intensity at school + the exhibition.

A wise man, Confusious, once said " It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness". I did that last night when I could not sleep and found myself teaching my next class in my head. The first time I gave up falling asleep I got up and painted. The second time I went down to the basement and vacuumed and sorted and cleaned there for more than 3 straight hours. LOL

Due to only a little sleep last night I have been swinging from active to drained - to and from all day.

I am very happy about this painting because it has both my wish of simplicity as well as my wish to painti expressive figures which portraits emotions more than anything else. I hope you like it.

This spring until the rain finally came we had the biggest forest fire in several decades here in Norway. This painting was inspired by the colours of flames.

Hi all, tonight I visited an artist friend who helped me decided what to chose for this weekends exhibition. In the end I decided on focusing on the Macro part of nature and use macro photographs. That should also make my part of the exhibition a bit children friendly.
Today's painting isa painting doen with very warm tones (the full richness might not show up properly on the screen).

Some has asked me how my praying mantis are doing and most are doing well. Here is one of them. It had a bit of problem with it and dropped it twice before it was able to hold it long enough to kill it.

Yesterday my daughter arrived with her "new" car". It was nice to see her since we both have been very busy lately.

Tomorrow I am off to a nearby communicy to be the "sensor" for their English oral exams. That is what I have spent tonight preparing for.

At work the graduating classes delivered the rest of their books and tidied up their classrooms for the new 8th graders that will occupy them in autumn.

LOL The worst job for them was to remove the dried up cucumber slices that they have put up on the ceiling.

During a project in the 0th grade today I took lots and lots of photos and was able to capture all kinds of insects in one of the roses outside school. It is amazing how many species there were.

When you work in art you begin to look at all kinds of things more closely and now using the camera for macro photos that too makes me mroe aware of the small things in nature around me. THAT is what I want to have in my life - an awareness of nature and the present more than always stressing forward. I really hope to find some time soon to show more of those photos online. Some of them are quite good and might be included in my presentation on the exhibition on the 20-21th of June.

Today I am very satisfied. I feel wrung out but in a good way. 10B, my class had their oral exams today, I eximined half in Norwegian and Ellen my co-contact-teacher the other half in Science. Both groups did well and all the students that had worked properly before were able to show of their knowledge well and got good results. Tomorrow I will probably sleep in.

Today at 9 a.m. my students got to know what subject they ended up being tested in in the oral exam on Friday. So today my duty at work as a teacher was to be available to the half of mt 10B class which cam up in Norwegian.

I brought another 4 chinese praying mantises to work and they got 4 new happy new owners.

Arriving home, an incredibly hardworking 9 year old nabour kid wanted a job helping me with the lawn etc in my garden and I was very happy to accept. He and his brother is saving for a nintendo game. hehe Working with him I realized how much I miss the time when my kids were small and we worked together. I was very nostalgic.

Then after watching the season stop of Army Wives I have worked on getting the exam assignments written down.

In short, my life is still so busy that I regularly wonder how to get to the end of the tasks. I will however as always manage just by taking one day at a time and one chore at a time this time of year.

The weather in Southern Norway has been more like high summer than spring these last couple of weeks. Everything is so dry and hot. And we also have a watering prohibit untill July the 1st due to some problems at the water plant. It is horrible to say this but I do long for a day or two of rain to cool everything down a bit. Many of the farmers in the South worry a bit too. The forecast is hot in the days to come too and the warn about danger for forest fires daily. I bet when the rain comes it will last for weeks and weeks LOL and then we will complain about that. It is a bit hard though for the poor students too stay focuse on their exam praparations in this heat though. Well, now it is only about 9 hours and each will get to know what subject each will have for their oral examination.

Today I brought 3 Chinese praying mantis to work and gave away. Several more wanted so I will try to bring a couple more tomorrow.
